8 Celebrity Engagement Rings You Haven't Seen Before
At just 17, Jack immersed himself in the world of fine jewellery and has since achieved a business degree, DGA, CIA and AJP qualifications. With over a decade of experience, Jack is our go-to on everything lab diamond-related.
From Beyoncé to Blake Lively, we're all familiar with the large and bedazzling rings we associate with celebrities – but what about those that go somewhat unnoticed?
Whether it's Beyoncé's 18ct emerald cut diamond ring or Paris Hilton's 20ct pear shape, celebrities are known for having the biggest and flashiest engagement rings in the game. While size may matter to a point, we think there's a lot to be said for the famed engagement rings that aren't completely over the top. From the demure to the dazzling, here are our favourite celebrity engagement rings that you may not have seen before (and ok, they're still pretty sizeable).
1. Miranda Kerr’s Engagement Ring
To our delight, everybody’s favourite model and former Victoria’s Secret Angel, Miranda Kerr, became engaged to Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel back in 2016. It was no surprise that Miranda turned to Snapchat to show off her sparkly round diamond to the world (complete with a personalised filter, of course). Kerr’s engagement ring is a joy of simplicity. While celebrity engagement rings can become outlandish in size and design, Evan kept things traditional, choosing a trilogy: two baguette diamonds flanking a round brilliant diamond believed to be around 2ct. Rather romantically, trilogy engagement rings feature three diamonds representing the relationship’s past, present and future. Good job, Evan!
For a similar look, check out our Winters engagement ring design, featuring a round diamond with two perfectly matched tapered baguette diamond side stones.
The step-cut baguettes offer a nod to vintage design, while the refined setting and striking centre diamond make for a sleek and modern engagement ring.
2. Kim Kardashian’s Engagement Ring
We all know the horror film-like tale of Kim Kardashian’s Parisian hold-up, in which robbers stole $10 million worth of the star’s jewellery. Among the stolen goods was Kim’s brand new 20ct flawless emerald cut diamond ring, a second engagement ring and a 33rd birthday present from then-husband Kanye West. The ring was designed in the same style as Kanye’s original engagement ring for Kim, a 15ct cushion cut diamond set with a super thin pavé band. Still shaken from the ordeal, Kim forewent large diamonds to instead wearing an understated diamond eternity ring on her wedding finger (and we’re all for this minimalist look).
If a big rock isn’t for you, an eternity ring could be a great, understated engagement ring alternative. From an ultra-thin Pavé Set Band, just like Kim’s, to a slightly more sizeable Princess Cut Channel Set Band or ethereal Montez Round & Marquise Eternity Ring – the eternity ring world is your oyster!
3. Blake Lively’s Engagement Ring
Hollywood’s funniest couple, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, married in 2012 after a super secretive relationship. It wasn’t until after their nuptials that we got our first glimpse of Blake’s show stopping 12ct pink diamond oval engagement ring. The sizeable oval diamond is set beautifully in a romantic shade of rose gold, to complement the pale, rosy hue of her centre stone. The scallop set diamond band is intricate, with diamonds adorning the three visible sides of the band. Reportedly designed by celebrity favourite Lorraine Schwartz, Blake Lively’s engagement ring is estimated to cost around $2 million.
Just like Blake’s, the Oval Bardot Scallop features an oval centre diamond in a scallop setting. The style is available in 18k rose gold, as well as 18k yellow gold and platinum (and if you want to be just like Blake, you could even opt for a pink diamond, just drop us a message).
4. Kate Bosworth’s Engagement Ring
In 2012, director Michael Polish proposed to Kate Bosworth with a stunning Asscher cut diamond solitaire engagement ring. The Asscher cut is a timeless diamond shape, first created in the 18th century and gaining unequivocal popularity in the 1920s Art Deco movement. The simplicity of the ring reflects Kate’s cool, sleek style. Kate’s simple ring lends itself to versatility, allowing her to dress up her hands with a plethora of super modern pieces, or strip back her jewellery and let her engagement ring do all the talking.
The Bardot engagement ring can be set with an Asscher or princess cut diamond. The princess cut is a 'brilliant cut' shape, meaning it is designed to sparkle, while the Asscher is a 'step cut' diamond, cut to make the most of clarity rather than sparkle. 5. Dianna Agron’s Engagement Ring
Dianna Agron fittingly debuted her stylish engagement ring at London Fashion Week in 2016, and married husband Winston Marshall of Mumford and Sons a matter of months later, in possibly the most chic wedding ever (seriously check out the photos, if you haven't already). Believed to be around 5ct, Dianna’s round brilliant diamond is certainly a head-turner. The ultra-simple solitaire design is made all the more eye-catching with what appears to be a unique rubover setting in yellow gold.
If Dianna Agron’s contemporary engagement ring takes your fancy, check out Queensmith’s Darrieux rubover solitaire ring design. When it comes to the Darrieux engagement ring, our goldsmiths work the metal reflectivity to give the illusion of a larger, lighter and brighter centre diamond, as a rubover setting can sometimes affect the light play that usually allows for maximum sparkle. The Darrieux is chic and contemporary, just like Diana’s effortless style.
6. Hailey Baldwin Bieber’s Engagement Ring
In July 2018, Justin Bieber proposed to Hailey Baldwin with an oval cut diamond engagement ring with a simple 18k yellow gold band. The diamond is estimated to weigh between 6 and 10 carat and is an elegant and classic design, perfectly complementing Hailey's style.
After announcing her pregnancy in May 2024, Hailey was spotted with an upgraded engagement ring, featuring a significantly larger diamond – estimated to be around 18 carats and cost over $1.5 million.
7. Paris Hilton’s Engagement Ring
In 2021, Carter Reum proposed to hotel heiress Paris Hilton with a 20 carat diamond ring. The engagement ring features a mega emerald cut diamond in the centre set on a platinum band, with baguette diamonds on either side and smaller diamonds embellishments.
The ring design draws inspiration from the Grand Palais in Paris, incorporating classic Art Nouveau and glass ceiling motifs into the structure, adding an architectural and romantic touch. The emerald cut diamond sits nestled within a setting that mirrors the splendour of French artistry and craftsmanship, making it a symbol not only of love but of timeless elegance and heritage.
8. Emma Louise Connolly’s Engagement Ring
Last but by no means least, Emma Louisa Connolly’s engagement ring is one of the most unique rings we've seen in a while. Made in Chelsea star Oliver Proudlock designed a bespoke engagement ring using diamonds from his Grandmother's collection. The colourful number features a green and black diamond halo with gorgeous Art Deco appeal, surrounding a large old mine cut diamond.
Proudlock’s decision to recreate a vintage-inspired engagement ring is genius – a personal, characterful and totally individual gesture. A great way to achieve an Art Deco look is with geometric shapes – check out the Classic Faye with an emerald cut diamond.
