About 1.5 Carat Diamond Rings

A 1.5ct diamond ring makes a beautiful statement, with a diamond that is sizeable and eye-catching. When it comes to your engagement ring, 1.5 carats can look very different depending on the ring style you choose - a solitaire ring can look relatively understated, while a halo ring can look like quite the jaw-dropping rock!

A 1.5ct engagement ring is a little above the average diamond size, although has become more common amongst couples choosing lab grown diamond rings - which have a lower cost per carat. A round 1.5 carat diamond measures around 7.3mm in length, or more like 8.5mm for elongated shapes like an oval diamond.

Frequently Asked Questions

Learn About 1.5ct Diamond Rings

How much does a 1.5 carat diamond ring cost?

1.5 ct engagement rings start at around £3,725 - but the price varies hugely depending on whether you choose a lab diamond or natural diamond.

A good quality 1.5 carat diamond typically costs £3,025 if it’s a loose lab grown diamond, or upwards of £16,000 if it's a loose natural diamond. Natural diamonds vary much more with high carat weights like 1.5ct, so this could be up to £20,000 or more. The total price of a 1.5 carat diamond ring will have the additional cost of the ring setting itself, starting at £700.

You should be aware that diamond prices fluctuate, and this should be used as a guide price accurate at the time of writing.

Is 1.5 carat a good size for an engagement ring?

Most people would be thrilled with a 1.5ct engagement ring - it is above the average diamond size, and makes for a really impactful yet super tasteful look. As it is on the larger side, a 1.5ct ring requires a healthy budget of around £4,000 for a lab diamond ring, or around £18,000 or more for a natural diamond ring - so make sure your budget will work for this sought after carat weight before committing to the idea.

Does a 1 carat and 1.5 carat diamond ring look similar?

You will notice a fairly obvious difference between a 1ct and 1.5ct engagement ring; the latter is a whole half carat bigger, and measures around 1mm more in length. This means a 1.5ct engagement ring will cover significantly more of the finger when worn.

How big is a 1.5ct diamond?

A round 1.5ct diamond measures around 7.3mm in length - or, for elongated diamond shapes like ovals, this could be close to 8.5mm or more. A 1.5ct diamond ring is fairly large - or at least, larger than the average engagement ring size without being overtly big.

How popular are 1.5ct engagement ring?

Around 20% of engagement rings feature a 1.5ct diamond, making 1.5ct engagement rings very popular. This the second most popular carat weight, after 1ct engagement rings.
