About 1.2 Carat Diamond Rings

A 1.2 carat engagement ring makes for a bold yet classic look - with a slightly above average diamond size that is still demure and elegant. The diamond of a 1.2 carat engagement ring measures around 6.75mm in length if round, or more like 8.3mm for an elongated diamond, like an oval.

A 1.2 carat diamond ring will look markedly bigger than 1 carat, but will have a considerably lower price tag than 1.5ct, a weight that sees a significant price jump. A 1.2 carat engagement ring is the perfect choice for those that aren’t too restricted by budget, but still have a guide price to stick to that won’t break the bank.

Frequently Asked Questions

Learn About 1.2ct Diamond Rings

A 1.2ct diamond ring features a centre diamond that weighs 1.2cts - i.e. one full carat plus one-fifth of a carat. This is the equivalent of 240mg, and a round 1.2ct diamond will measure around 6.75mm in length. An elongated 1.2ct diamond, like an oval, will measure more like 8.3mm.

A 1.2 carat engagement ring is sizeable - a little bigger than average - but certainly not overkill. A 1.2 carat ring will look very stylish and demure, while covering a very decent amount of the wearer’s finger.

1.2 ct engagement rings start at around £2,950 - but the price varies hugely depending on whether you choose a lab diamond or natural diamond.

A good quality 1.2 carat diamond typically costs £2,250 if it’s a loose lab grown diamond, or upwards of £12,500 if it's a loose natural diamond. The total price of a 1.2 carat diamond ring will have the additional cost of the ring setting itself, starting at £700.

You should be aware that diamond prices fluctuate, and this should be used as a guide price accurate at the time of writing.

There is a fairly obvious difference between a 1ct and a 1.2ct diamond ring. There is only 0.2ct between them, but the 1.2ct diamond will look bigger - so if you have wiggle room in your budget and you’re looking for something just a little bigger than average, a 1.2ct diamond ring may be the better option for you.
