RAYE has been teasing her new single on TikTok, “Where Is My Husband”, that has inspired a product name change for a popular diamond ring previously named “Rae”.

The song is becoming an anthem for those that want “a diamond ring” on their “wedding finger”, and has amounted to over 20,000 user-generated videos on the popular social media platform TikTok. The trend typically shows women that want an engagement ring from their partners.

However, wedding and engagement rings specialists, Queensmith, are taking a fun spin on the song’s message.

Queensmith believe that nobody should have to wait for their partners to buy them a ring, and that anybody can treat themselves for any occasion! In this spirit, they have renamed their popular diamond ring previously known as ‘Rae’ to the aptly named ‘Raye’.

The Raye ring – an east-to-west emerald cut, available with a natural or lab diamond, is bold, timeless and glamorous, with a hint of the old Hollywood aesthetic RAYE has been known to channel herself.

Whilst diamond rings have been traditionally tied to engagements and marriage, an increasing number of women are now buying jewellery for themselves as a reward or treat. Queensmith is proud to support the growing movement of self-love, and encourages women and men that they don’t have to have a romantic partner in their life to wear fine jewellery.

“Buying a diamond doesn’t have to be about waiting for someone else to gift it to you,” says Laura Suttie, Gemmologist & Design Expert at Queensmith.

“We’re seeing a powerful shift where both men and women are choosing to celebrate themselves. A diamond ring can mark independence, career milestones, or simply the joy of investing in something that brings you happiness,” she adds.

Recent research shows a steady rise in self-purchase jewellery, reflecting the growing desire to step away from outdated societal pressures that tie value and status to relationships.

“Marriage is a wonderful choice for many, but it shouldn’t be the only context where people feel permission to buy or wear fine jewellery,” continues Laura. “You don’t need to wait for someone else to validate your worth. You can celebrate milestones, mark personal growth, or enjoy new beginnings with jewellery that lasts a lifetime. Jewellery is a personal expression, not a societal expectation.”

At Queensmith, whether it’s an engagement ring or a self-bought diamond, the meaning is defined by the wearer - not by a tradition.

Queensmith spoke to Rhian Lindley, relationship and positive psychology coach, who advocates for self-love:

“When it comes to love, society often places unnecessary pressure on us to follow a rigid timeline: meet someone, fall in love, get engaged, get married. For many, that pressure can feel overwhelming - particularly when friends are posting proposals online or families are asking, “So, when’s it your turn?”

“The truth is this: you do not need to wait for someone else to validate your worth with a ring, or anything else. In fact, one of the most empowering acts of self-love is recognising that you are already whole. Celebrating yourself – whether that’s buying a diamond ring, booking a holiday, or simply acknowledging your own achievements - is an act of independence and self-partnering. A ring doesn’t have to symbolise the start of a marriage or a relationship commitment; it can just as powerfully represent your commitment to yourself, your growth, and your success. If you’ve worked hard, overcome challenges, or simply want to honour the person you’re becoming, why not buy yourself a ring as a personal milestone marker?

“Societal pressure teaches us that love should come from outside sources, but true confidence and resilience come from building a strong relationship with yourself first. When you prioritise self-love, you set the tone for the kinds of relationships you’ll welcome into your life - ones rooted in respect, equality, and freedom rather than pressure.

“So next time you feel the weight of expectation around engagements, marriage or relationship status, pause and remember: you don’t need a husband, wife, or partner to justify choosing beauty, luxury, or celebration. Treat yourself. Buy the ring, sure, but wear it proudly as a symbol of independence, joy, and the life you’re creating on your own independent terms.”
