Proposal Stories: Melanie & Aidan

For Aidan and Melanie, fate was just a tap away. The couple met online through a dating app, Coffee Meets Bagel, and shared their first date at Xing Fu Tang in London’s bustling Piccadilly Circus. Over bubble tea and a leisurely stroll, sparks flew. Fast forward three years to the day, and Aidan was ready to recreate that magic – this time in Greece and with a special diamond ring in hand.

On the 13th of September 2024, Aidan pulled off a proposal that was as dreamy as it was thoughtful. In the picturesque town of Fira, Santorini, with the Caldera sunset painting the sky in hues of orange and pink, he asked Melanie to marry him.

‘I knew Melanie adored sunsets – it’s her favourite time of day,’ Aidan shared. ‘Santorini was always on her wish list, and I found the perfect spot with incredible views. The gazebo was decorated with flowers, and it all came together perfectly.’

For Melanie, the moment was surreal. ‘It was more perfect than I ever imagined! The sunset, the ocean, the gazebo – it felt like a dream. Aidan’s heartfelt speech made it so special, even if I couldn’t remember every word through my happy tears. When he opened the ring box, it was pure magic. I felt like the luckiest girl in the world,’ she said.

After the proposal, the couple savoured a romantic dinner overlooking the Caldera, star-gazing and basking in the excitement of their engagement. The next morning, Melanie’s parents were the first to hear the news, as Aidan shared every detail of his months-long secret planning.

Melanie reflected on the journey: ‘Shopping for engagement rings can feel really stressful, and I had some bad experiences with other major brands being snobbish and pushy.
