Petersham Nurseries

Café, restaurant, exterior décor, furniture, hand creams, candles and of course plants - Petersham Nurseries has it all. Bringing the outside inside, the setting is uniquely filled with overgrowing plants, bouquets and canopies. Surrounded by Petersham meadows and a short walk to the Thames riverbank without a high-rise in sight, Petersham Nurseries is far enough from Central London to feel immersed in countryside, but close enough to make the journey an easy one. The stylish destination is popular among those that appreciate good food and a beautiful, boho experience. For those adverse to the journey to Richmond or short for time, the newly opened Petersham Nurseries in Covent Garden offers a similar experience with added city-edge. Expect ceiling-high trees in the regency Covent Garden building, visually opulent displays and a packed shop floor.

Food

The Petersham Nurseries Cafe is less a ‘caff’, far more ‘chic, artisanal, gourmet-yet-casual restaurant’. With seasonal menus that make the most of British produce, the ‘slow food’ policy ensures the chefs put their all into each Italian inspired dish, both exquisite to taste and to look at. The restaurant is situated under a canopy of bougainvillea and jasmine, with colossal bouquets squeezed between tables, and walls adorned with antique Indian hangings. The Covent Garden Delicatessen is full of unusual wines and exciting goodies. We love the Torroni Baci Chocolate Covered Nougat for £11 and Organic Earl Grey loose leaf tea for £12.

Plant & Pot Paradise

The extensive nurseries offer all the usual gardeners’ favourites, plus the kind of exotic, striking flowers that most of us have never come across before. The cacti collection is particularly beautiful, potted in rustic terracotta, hollowed out breeze blocks and distressed glazed vessels. When it comes to plant pots and exterior furnishings, Petersham nurseries offers some of the most unique pieces imaginable; antique angel statues nestled between aged chandeliers and ceramic ram head wall-mounts, among hundreds of other curiosities - an Aladdin's Cave of beautiful things. The Covent Garden store caters to more everyday needs, with glass and tableware, hand creams and soaps ideal for gifting, and manageable plants for an urban abode.
