Queensmith Loves | Charlie Brear Wedding Dresses
Charlie Brear is for the modern day bride, looking to tear up the rule book on traditional wedding dresses and opt for something their stylish-selves would feel more at home in on their big day. Charlie, until 2005, worked as a fashion stylist when she noted those around her growing tired of dreary, traditional and somewhat uninspiring bridalwear. With her background in fashion firmly present in her creations, Charlie began to design her own gowns, driving the business from British startup to global success.
Made In London
Each dress is designed, prototyped and handcrafted in Charlie Brear’s Queens Park studio. Branching out to eveningwear comprising luxurious silks, soft colours and fashion forward silhouettes, It Girls Sienna Miller and Alexa Chung are among the hoard of London-based fashionista fans. Charlie remains passionate about bringing a new wave of style to the British bridal scene and helping women find something to cherish, ‘if I do a bridal appointment - which is quite rare these days - I’ll go into the fitting and I still get a massive buzz when someone loves what they put on. When everyone in the room gets really emotional I will cry, even after all this time. When someone finds the dress that they wanted, there's no better feeling than that.’
Style And SubstAnce
With an overarching theme of contemporary design, there is a Charlie Brear dress for every woman of 21st Century taste. Jumpsuit-lovers after a simple and striking silhouette should check out the Carson for minimalist design. Those that have always envisaged a strapless number, see Avalon - we love the waistband flower detailing and flared bodice overlay. Our personal fave might be the Lexington Overdress, a lace gown with a subtle nod to 70s-style flared cuffs. In fact, Charlie explains the whole of the 2018 mainline collection mixes the best parts of 1970s Cher with 1990s attitude and grit, and with a little added sophistication, a striking, creative and loveable collection is born. We highly recommend following Charlie Brear on Instagram for a fresh take on wedding inspo for the alternative, modern day bride.
